Parked at St. Paul’s lodge, and it was a short hike to the top (around 2.1 miles). Had to cross a horizontal snowfield at about mile 1.3, and I was too lazy to put on the microspikes, so I kicked my way across. Had to cross another one around mile 1.8, but this one was at a 45-degree angle straight up. Fun! Had the summit to myself for a bit before heading down. Too much snow to connect over to Red #2, so I’ll have to save it for another day.

Just a road walk in the summer. Red #2 however, that made it worth it. 8.7 miles and 3,333' of gain.

Red Mountain No. 3
Kessler and I headed for Red Mountain Pass to do a climb. Since time was short, we decided on Red Mountain No. 3. We climbed Red Mountain No. 3 via the old mining road, but it was still a very scenic climb and the mountains are very colorful. There wasn't as much snow around as there normally is.

Road HikeFollowed the road the whole way, quick stop on the drive back from Vestal Basin. Now I want to build a yurt up there.
