Standard via Culebra

"Economic Stimulus Refund Climb 2008"
Climbed the standard route via Culebra. Started out with the 14ers.com group but went on ahead to make sure I got my moneys worth ;-)

Paid the money  Sucess!

This was combined with my first climb of Culebra. In those days they didn't charge you extra for Red. Since I was up there I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to get a high 100.

Culebra Peak and Red Mountain  Sucess!

From Cielo Vista Ranch, paid the $150.00 and hiked the Northwest Ridge to Culebra Peak and continued on to Red Mountain. I was the only person to summit Red Mountain that day.

Culebra/Red  Sucess!

This mountain reminded me of Bross. A big pile of rubble. Now 150 bucks poorer.

Picked up the Red  Sucess!

Nice additional summit to Culebra. Excellent weather and companionship. Thanks 14ers.com!

via Culebra  Sucess!

A VERY easy climb. Out of 6 people that were up on Culebra this day, I was the only one to climb Red Mountain. It was nice to have the mountain to myself. Clouded up a bit and eventually turned warmer (the morning was brutal!). I actually enjoyed Red Mountain more than Culebra!

From Culebra  Sucess!

Over from Culebra with a number of 14erworld folks. A good workout, but not much different than Culebra really.

Glad I went. Got back to the trailhead and drove strait back 11 hours to Fort Worth got some sleep and was back at work the next morning. The things I do sometimes just to get in a climb!

Via Culebra Peaks South Ridge  Sucess!

This mountain is worth it - If your going for the top 100 peaks in Colorado. If not - don't waste your time. Nothing special about this one except that I spotted several black bears.

Route Climbed: Taylor Ranch Date Climbed: October 2, 2004  Sucess!

Climbed in October 2004 along with Culebra. The wind and weather were fairly nasty but I figured there was no way I was going home without Red too. The traverse over was quite cold and the climb back was painful but it was worth it.
