It was cold and windy, but the views were great, and there was no one else on the trail. Great first summit.
Super windy with low visibility and snow. Interesting climb. Part of a two-fer with Mayan Peak.
short hike using HPS Route 2. Lots of wind at the summit, the same wind as feeding the wildfires in LA.
This was part of a month long solo peakbagging trip in which I hiked every day and got 70 peaks in 30 days. I hiked up Black Mountain and El Paso Mountain earlier the same day.
For numerous photos and brief route descriptions see the trip report.
lovely cloudy day on the way home from death valley.
Climbed this along with Black Mountain. Sadly the dust was so intense the normally excellent views were stunted. An easy climb well worth doing.
Parked off of Hwy 395 and followed a very old Jeep track to the north ridge. Fun scrambling to the very windy summit.
Hiked from 395 straight up the valley where the water would flow between the 2 mountains directly in front of you. Took the Saddle to the False peak where there was a big flag pole. Then hoped onto that saddle over to Red Mt. Great views on a great day. poured some brew out for the fallen comrades and decided to blaze our own path straight down the side of Red. Not very brightand very dangerous
Think I only did the middle peak after spending the night in the area on my way back to the SF bay area.
I climbed it in December 2008 and in December 2009.
Great 360 degree views from the top!
Off the Trona Road after doing two peaks near Tehachapi (Tehachapi Mtn & Black #3)
Started at Cuddeback Road, went cross country to top. Great little hike, great views, but the wind was fierce. Lots of neat etchgings from visitors to the top from about 100 years ago. Trip Report (5-23-10)
Rainy and foggy, but a nice day.
Hiked up from the parking spot off HW395. Had a lot of fun scrambling over the lava boulders to the north ridge. Great views over the desert on a beautiful day.
Cuddback Trailhead. Beautiful day.
With Five Fingers and Black Mtn the same day, with Matthew. Trip Report
Dayhiked from the dirt road, just off 395. Got dark on the summit, so limited views.
Why do i stay out all night the night before doing hikes like this?? It was way fun anyways, glad to be able to get out hiking with a friend while visiting:-)
Finally realized another little dream peak of mine. Had to shake the cobwebs out of my legs. Amazing views and really fun lava boulder route to the cool summit. Cold and windy as hell, should have brought a sweater. Good to be hiking with my ole friend Janell.
