Southeast via McGee Pass and Trailhead  Sucess!

Climbed with our Scout Troop and a three day outing. Camped out on the West side of Lake Dorothy in a campsite near the creek. Lots of snow from camp up to McGee Pass covering over 50% of the trail. Clear from the pass to the summit. Very nice view.

North Couloir  Sucess!

Climbed this long-ass couloir with Brad Mastros. Oh yeah, previous day: hot approach, mosquitoes at camp and a bee stung on my bud!

North Coulior  Sucess!

Climbed it as an overnighter but it still felt long. We had mostly snow in the coulior
with only a few sections of ice/neve. Outstanding views from the summit.

With James Barnett and Gary Snider. Encountered a little rock fall about half way up, but other than that it was an excellent climb.

2 co-workers (Bill/Jonathan), our 3 dogs(Tootsie, Kona, Popa), and I started out from McGee Creek Trailhead, camped at Big McGee Lake and summited with a 4th person we picked up on trail at around 1pm. The trail up the pile of scree (my description of this mountain) was faint from the pass. The worst part was that someone had stolen the marker from the summit. At least the summit box was still there. Well worth the trip and the views are amzing!

Route Climbed: North Face Date Climbed: June,2001

Went up solo from Convict Lake, the creek crossing at where the old walk bridge used to be, was quite difficult due to high runoff. Once past that, I arrived at Mildred Lake/ meadow, I couldn't find the trail to Lake Dorothy. So I continued up to the southern end of the meadow, where I made camp. The following morning I headed south up a steep canyon, until it topped out near Constance Lake. Here's where I had a problem! I was on the wrong side of the lake, for the North Face route. Not wanting to deal with a steep traverse, with a short runout into a half frozen lake, & being solo. I decided to bag it, & return another day!

As Bob says, a long dayhike from the McGee Creek trailhead. This was my first "real" peak in the Sierra (definitely my first SPS peak)--a rather boring walk up from the pass, but with some nice views, especially of Mt. Baldwin et. al.
