Chilly place to camp but the views are worth it!Hiked up to Sawtooth in late July, 1978 and my girlfriend at the time and I had a blissful time. We saw no one else in the area that trip. It was very chilly at night, but I doubt it's any colder than most other paces in the Sawtooth.
We hiked out toward Grandjean and were delighted for two or three miles as hundreds of butterflies of various species rose up constantly from the trail and continually landed on our hands, arms, shoulders and hair. It was quite magical!
