This time I visited this peak ascending and descending on the two routes that I haven't been on yet. After a 6-hour drive from home, started from Râuşor late morning, reached the top via the Ştevia valley route (with a short excursion to Ştevia tarn sitting below the north face of the summit) and descended via the newly marked (but in fact, the oldest) route on the Prelucele ridge. It was a hot day with plenty of humidity but luckily no storm evolved during the day.
First time on this route (started from Gentiana hut, via Pietrele complex). The rocky terrain and the hot sun made the approach somewhat hard, but in the end clouds formed just before we reached the peak itself (no view but at least a break from cruel sunrays). The final part of the route (from Lolaia saddle) is in a steep gully with unstable rock gravel, so care must be taken. Descended via Stanisoara valley.
A beautiful mountain where always I will want to come back. Many routes and peaks. Two rockclimbing routes in Bucura II wall : 25 octombrie and creasta (Ridge) Vulturilor.
Splendid sunny dayhike from Bucura lake via Bucura peak, then back.
Ascent from Rausor - Stevia lake - Culmea Lolaia - Vf. Retezat.
Spindrift and very cold.
