Return of the Condor

Return of the Condor

One of the best "NOT-KEPT" secrets in Arizona ... Beyond the sandstone formation in the foreground, lies the most famous trout-fishing grounds in Arizona; called Lees Ferry. And behind the higher feature in the background, known as the Vermilion Cliffs, lies the California Condor ... which was reintroduced here in 1996. I wish I was a Condor right now. Actually, I plan to become a Raven in my next LIFE .. Guess I have to wait .. "They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels ..." July 30, 2011

Sphinx

HI Larry, when I was there some years ago, I called the rock in the foreground the ''Sphinx without a head :-) '

Re: Sphinx

You are completely RIGHT!

I (sometimes) forget how GREAT the Dutch are
with Creative Thinking.

I mean, I've always held a fascination for
those Wooden Shoes ... in fact ..

I would give up my left arm to visit
The Netherlands right now! : - )

Re: Nice...

I was thinking about posting my friend, who
is pretty heavy into mud wrestling.

Other than that, she's JUST pretty heavy ..

soaring above gorge

I remember seeing condors soar over the GC, when I was looking from a popular spot on the south rim. A Texan pronounced to his wife, "lookie hon, a bald eagle!"

Re: soaring above gorge

I reckon the Texan was "perplexed" to see
such a large and beautiful bird.

"Using thermal updrafts, condors can soar (and glide) up to 50 miles per hour and travel 100 miles or more per day searching for food while expending little energy .."

Damn, I wish I could do DAT !!!

Love Soaring Condors

Hang glider pilots seek out locations where they can fly with condors, as they read the thermals, so they get the best flights by following their lead. Great stuff.

And awesome colours in the scene.

Re: Love Soaring Condors

What's the skinny on the new Specialized
"CROSSTRAIL" recreational bicycle ???

I need a 21-speed to build up my back muscles, and take advantage of the granny
gears as I head down the lonesome byway ..

Re: Beautiful Larry

Thanks - I just feel I should be out there
FLYING with the Condors, instead of doing the
standard "nine-to-five" thing, and trying to
please people who'll NEVER be completely
pleased ... and don't give a damn anyway.

Hold fast to your Dreams!

Re: beauty

Good, I think I'll reward myself by spending
more TIME outside and less time on the computer.

And a side of spare ribs wouldn't hurt, either.

Thanks, Tomek ..
