For the descent of Silvertip Mountain, hikers return back from the west ridge to the southwest ridge of the peak by going around the east side of a large rocky bluff near the top of the southwest ridge. The preferred location to go around the bluff is by locating an old goat path at the location shown in this photo. Photo taken on September 30, 2012.
