"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

From Mill D North TH#2 04-17-24 W/Lana. Snowshoed Little Water Peak from Dog Lake, returned to Dog Lake and summited Reynolds. This was my 2nd time there but I don't know when the first time was. Today was #16 in my 80in80 project. Visibility on this peak was terrific, not like on Little Water 2 hours earlier with zero visibility and a wind chill of about 20°.

After Circle AllStarted from Butler Fork around 7:30 p.m. Got up to Circle All in under an hour. Sun was setting as we traversed the Desolation Trail over to Reynolds. Bushwhacked up then followed the trail down. Sunset was gorgeous. On the way down a mother moose and her calf gave us a startle in the dark. Great little hike! Got back to the car around eleven.

Mill DGot to the summit without snowshoes, sunny and some good views out of Big Cottonwood. I then glissaded down most of the way to Dog Lake. It was a blast!

Winter SnowshoeingSnowshoed w/ a friend from Mill D/Dog Lake. We had planned on doing Gobbler's Knob from Butler's but parking was crazy. We decided to check out this trail instead. Great little winter hike. Tons of people. Lots of backcountry skiers.

Kids in towI took our two oldest kids (son 11, daughter 8) backpacking to Dog Lake and we did Reynolds Peak in the morning. It was my daughters first backpacking trip. We all enjoyed the hike, though the kids thought the trail got a little steep at times.

When You're at Dog Lake ...... might as well take in the view and get a little more elevation in. Winter usually enjoys clear trails to the summit, too.

Alone, I climbed Reynolds Peak from Dog Lake and Big Cottonwood Canyon. I hadn't climbed the peak since May of 1996.
Other Ascents
I have climbed this mountain many times (especially in the 1980's and 1990's), dating back to when I was a child.

It's cooler up topMy lovely wife and I took some first-timers up to Dog Lake, and thanks to Kadee I had directions to Reynolds, so I dragged the group to the peak. We had some awesome views, pretty flowers, and moderate temperatures. A great hike!
It was a little difficult to find the trail from Dog Lake.

Shaking Off The RustNice moderate hike. The body sure needs time to adjust to hiking after being out for so long. Whew!

Via Mill D North ForkWe camped the night before at Lake Desolation. Headed up to Desolation Peak first thing in the morning, hiked a good chunk of the Part City ridge, and then wrapped up our hike by heading over to Dog Lake and tagging Reynolds Peak.
