Best mountain in the state  Sucess!

I hiked up from Grouse Road. The summit block was made smoother by the stamp of countless feet. The observation tower gives a solid view above the trees.

Cool Spring Day  Sucess!

My wife and I had a great time hiking some of the trails on Rib Mountain. Can't wait to visit here again when all the fall colors are prime.

Nice Hike  Sucess!

Stopped here after hiking Timms Hill earlier in the day. We hiked to the summit and then hiked all around the park. Trails were well maintained.

Rib Mountain  Sucess!

For all practical purposes a drive-up. Winds were gusting at 30+ mph which made it fun on the observation tower.

A Variety of Fun  Sucess!

Parked in summit lot because I could not find yellow trail head up - went down on yellow to trail head and back up on yellow/gray/blue to the wonderful summit finish, This mountain deserved a full hike. Beautiful woods and rocky outcrops.

A great day  Sucess!

I visited Rib Mtn in June 2010 to get ready for Uncompahgre. It was a great day! I hiked up & down it a bunch of times. I liked the ski slope best because it was the steepest, but the wooded trails were great too. Rib Mtn was exactly the uphill workout I was looking for. I only wish it was located in the Chicago area. I would be there all the time!

Visited the top while exploring the back roads of northern Wisconsin during our time in Appleton. It was chilly but there wasn't snow on the ground yet.

Top of Marathon County  Sucess!

Can't remember exactly when I climbed it but I remember enjoying the brief scramble up to the highest spot. Great view down to Wausau from up here. Been here a number of times.

From Parking Lot  Sucess!

Climbed this with my wife. She decided not to climb to the true summit although she gave it a shot. The rock is smooth and slick when compared to much of the rock you find in Colorado. Would be much more difficult if it were wet or icy.

Great day hike  Sucess!

Parked near the Rib Mountain Golf Course and hiked straight up the ski hill to the highpoint with my wife, and friends Ed, Martha, and some others who were attending the Highpointers Convention. Climbed Timms Hill and Pearson Hill the same day.

Climbed it many times in the past to train for Rainier and Whitney.

Road Trip  Sucess!

The family took a long road trip to the north woods of Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. Along the way we camped at Rib Mtn State Park and did a little bit of hiking. Two out of three climbed the quartzite outcropping. The only one who didn't make it was my 3 mos old son, he'll have to come back if he wants to claim this county highpoint!
