You have definitelyimproved (as a photographer) during the last
year. I don't think the Wasatch got as much
snow as other places did ..
GSENM is a great location to work the lens!

Congratulations, Alex!I had a strong feeling about that photo already yesterday, when I looked at it again and especially when I opened it up to full size - I found the effect, not only in the colors but also as to the space and depth, simply incredible!!

Lovely coloursAside from that it could be terrain on several other planets and moons in the solar system, the colours and erosion is amazing. The eroded basin on the left reminds me of a chocolate dusted cream desert. Mmm, yummy

Hoodoos?Maybe you can explain me what the term Hoodoo stands for? I've seen it in more places.. Is it something like a rounded rock? Where does it come from (Indian name?)?

Re: Hoodoos?Usually, hoodoos are free standing pinnacles of rock and most are not that high. Hoodoos are composed of a fine layer of Sedimentary Rock whether it be a silt, mud-stone, or tuff (volcanic in origin) are all soft in nature and eroded out very easily. These usually compose the bottom portion of a hoodoo. The top is generally a hard, strong layer on top of the soft base. When this happens, as in the case of my picture, the hoodoos will not erode out as fast as the surrounding area. Hope that helps. As for the name, I do not know where that came from.
