Rising Wolf Mountain

Rising Wolf Mountain

Getting around a cliff obstacle on the west ridge of Rising Wolf Mountain is done via a sketchy goat trail marked with cairns. A climb of about 100 feet to regain the ridge soon follows. Glacier Mountaineering Society members approach this narrow and dramatic section in the latter half of a long day that involves a six hour climb of the south face of Rising Wolf, ascent of the east ridge, and then the descent of the west ridge seen here, to Dawson Pass (the half way point) and a 7 mile, 2 hour plus march back to the starting point (through gorgeous country, of course!).
