Hello! I was wondering what guiding company you used to make the climb? I am looking into going this year but cant find much info on mountain guides for this mountain.
Thanks,
Domingo

My first thin air!
Long day starting at 3 am from Cabanas Kanwara, beautiful crevasse at the top. Every break in the clouds offered gorgeous teasing glimpses of the views we were missing. The guides and Ericd did a great job keeping me motivated. Not bad for "rainy season." Great way to start building my high altitude experience.

El Cocuy - Kanwara
After acclimatizing the day prior by way of Redondo Peak, we started out at 3am for a long 10hr ascent. Lush green vegetation, jagged rock slate, and south american glaciers made this national park worth visiting. Summit precipitous felt better with roped protection from a deep crevasse leading down to oblivion. Thin air at 17,000' was nothing those local coca leaves couldn't cure. Glacier is ultimately in a melting state, lot's of energy spent post-holing late in the day. The climb had some lingering whiteouts, snow & rain showers, and postcard framed views.

Perfect weather to solo
Started from the new Posada (near Kanwara cabanas) at 6.30. Hiked up to the right side of the glacier, where the rock drops off.
Entered the glaciar easily at 9.30 and one hour later on the summit, no other climbers in sight until much later. First windy, later perfect weather.
There is a nice crevasse/bergschrund/cave just below the summit, fun to explore (take care!).
Wonderful place to visit.
