The most gorgeous ridge I've ever seen! Freaky drops down both sides! Made it most of the way before turning back. It snowed a lot the day before and the snow was really soft and I chickened out to take it to the finish line! But, just fantastic!!!!!
The first time that I stood on the ridge was in July 2009. Upon glimpsing the dramatic drops on either side, I realized that I was not yet ready for the crossing of the West ridge to the Aiguille de Rochefort. It took another year and more experience on very steep ice & snow (ie. Aiguille de Chardonnet and Tour Ronde) before I completed a successful venture (with a local guide Eric and my son Christoph) on this spectacular, famous ridge!
if you fall i jump to the other side we agreed just before leaving camp.
Perfect day for the ridge!
beautiful weather in Jul. 1995
A really fun lesson in cornice climbing. WILD views down either side.
