Glad to see you back

I was about to send you a note asking where the heck you've been (in terms of contributing peak pages). Glad to see this one on the "What's new!"

Re: Glad to see you back

I haven't had much time to go hiking. Six-day work week leaves it difficult to get away. Also, I'm a novelist in my spare-time job and that takes up a lot of time, also.

How did I miss this?

Bob, great to see you added Rocky Knob, one of my favorite mountains! I don't know how I missed it when the page went up last spring. Couple of thoughts for you: First, the route you took over the top of Pinnacle and along the ridge was probably great in late winter but, wow, try doing it when the leaves are out! And there's actually an official trail up Rocky Knob now, which leaves the old toll road and goes up the east ridge. It's a fine trail that shows up on this great map: http://www.polarismaps.com/prtpub_mtrt.shtml
It's a little hard to spot on the toll road--you have to watch for a side road heading down the mountain, and then look the other way and it's heading up the mountain from there.

Re: How did I miss this?

Thanks for the information. I wish I could get over to Montreat more often to hike.

The route we took was even tough with no leaves! Parts of it, at any rate. A pure bushwhack.
