Perfect Day
Hiked over to RPR after having lunch atop Giant. The hike between the two seemed a little shorter that what it seems when looking from one to the other. Great day and RPR was quiet and peaceful. I plan on trying the east route from Rt 9 sometime soon, the ridge looked pretty neat.

spring hike
Went back to RPR after running out of time on a previous hike on the east ridge. This time I went up Giant, and the made the cross over. It was a great spring day for hiking. Would like to one day go back and go the whole way on the east ridge.

Wintery duel
This was a very good day in the Adirondacks. It should have qualified as a winter ascent. There was several feet of snow and much cascading ice to navigate over. The veiw was breathtaking on this 20degree ,crystal clear spring morning.I give it my thumbs up

came over giant to RPR..icy going down giant but a breeze going up RPR..i think it has the best views of the adks. it was pretty neat seeing Lake Champlain and home in the distance.. was worth the trouble with the ice!
cruised up to RPR on a beautiful Adirondack morning via Giant Route... some of the best views i've had in the dacks.. arrived at 8 am to cloud coverd peaks with deep blue skies. great climb but a crowd heading towards Giant. spent 30 mins alone on RPR taking in the solitude, before fighting my way back down the Zander Trail. a cold night left ice all over the place at higher elevations. definitely check out the 60 yard side trail descending Giant to RPR to have a close up of the massive slides on the East side of Giant. Its unmarked on the left, marked by a large fallen birch tree. Great Day!!!

Climbed with Giant
Reached this summit first from Ridge Trail. Very windy and cloudy, which sucks because I've heard the view is amazing. Welcomed by a huge cairn at the top. Then went over to Giant and down Roaring Brook

Adirondack Great
An Adirondack Classic in my book. Hiked from the East with the fall foliage at peak. Everything about this hike is great. The elevation gain is challenging and Bald peak is very very cool. The summit of RPR has some of the best views in the Dack's in my opinion.

Rocky Peak Ridge
Climbed with Giant via Giant Mountain Trail from Route 73. Although most hikers only go up to Giant, Rocky Peak Ridge is a much better mountain in my book. The views were fantastic; we could see all of the Eastern Adirondacks and even the Green Mountains across Lake Champlain. Nice to cool off in Chapel Pond after a hot day!
Climbed from Chapel Pond over Giant and then down the ridge to the East. Giant was packed. Only a few other hikers on RPR. Fine, clear day and a bit warm. My poor dog Koira made her last long climb. She decided she had enough hiking with about five miles to go. There was quite a bit of carrying to get her down the mountain. Not to worry, the old girl has since recovered fine!

Ridge Trail
Hiked with Paul for peak #20/46. Light snow/flurries most of the day with no views from the top. : ( Still a fun peak. Steep getting back to the trail junction for Giant. Challenging hike for the calves! : )

Second Adirondack Peak Hiked
I left my family on the main trail to the summit of Giant and scrambled/jogged over to this summit and back. Round trip was about 40 minutes of huffing and puffing to get out some unspent energy!
I didn't have a hiking partner for the day, so I hiked up Giant and decided to head over to Rocky Peak Ridge while I was up there. I wasn't very impressed with the view from Giant, but the view from the backside of RPR was amazing. I found a nice big rock to eat lunch on and just sat there for a while enjoying the view and the silence.
