Ophir Loops  Sucess!

#1: 8/25: One of my favorite Oquirrh hikes yet! Came up Ophir Canyon trail to Lowe, 10160, Rocky, 9530, then down via Chandler Fork. 12 mi 4700 ft elevation gain. Loved walking the ridglines between Lowe, 10180 & Rocky, looking down the sheer drop to the E & N and 360 views from each peak are awesome. Scrambles up Rocky were fun. Views looking down the canyons to the north and south from on top of 9530 were cool. Descended via Chandler Fork, which was a gorgeous hike through the trees, along an ATV trail.
#2: 2nd, 9/23: This time it was in the middle of a long day traversing the full Ophir circuit: Up Ophir South Fork to Lewiston & Flat Top, north across 9925 and 9820 to Lowe, over 10160 to Rocky, then over 9530 and back up to Bald, coming down via Serviceberry. 24 mi, 8100 ft elevation gain, 12 hrs 20 mins, including breaks.

Last Peak of a Long Day  Sucess!

Decided to hit up Rocky even though my buddy and I were beat from a long day traversing the Butterfield Peaks, Kelsey Peak, and Lowe Peak. The scramble was a lot of fun! Having grown up in Tooele it was great to hit up many of the major peaks I grew up looking at. Definitely worth the extra effort.

First Time on this One  Sucess!

04/01/17: With Michael, Sharon, and Nancy. Love this one. Tried to get Kelsey but a sketchy part turned us around. Went back over Corn and to the summit of Lowe and down. Long day.

From Ophir Canyon  Sucess!

#1 4-19-16 With Brent. Took the drainage leading directly up the south face of the peak. Learned that a better way would have been to angle to the ridge east of the summit and head up from there. 3+43 up on good consolidated snow. I headed over to Corn Peak and then bagged Kelsey Peak before returning over Corn and dropping down the ultra steep snow to the eventual merge with the trail. Had the snow been much harder we would have needed crampons and ice ax. #2 4-1-17 No fooling! W/ Lana, Sharon & Nancy. 4+01 up, ss to the ridge and ice ax and boots the final 200 yards. Strong NE winds.

Rocky Peak  Sucess!

From Butterfield Canyon Pass, along with Butterfield Peaks, White Pine Peak, Kelsey Peak, and Lowe Peak. Long, fun day in the Oquirrhs. Fairly simple, but still very fun scramble up to the summit. This peak is aptly named.

Backcoutry ski summit  Sucess!

Climbed on my skis from Ophir Canyon. Winter road not plowed very far this year. Total was about 11 miles round trip. Great views of miles of untouched snow. Skied the south face then bushwhacked out of the canyon.

Awesome Hike  Sucess!

Climbed from Soldier Canyon. One of the best trails in the Oquirrh's I have ever been on. Lush waterfalls. The cornices overlooking Rocky Basin were massive. Started hitting snow at about 7500 feet.
