Approach
Deravica is reached from Decani a town and monastery in Kosovo. Pec is the nearest bigger city and Decani is 16 km to the south of it.
At the monastery there's a hotel which seems not to be now in conditions to be of use for tourists. The route to Deravica is not easy to find as you walk a great river valley, Decanska bistrica, that has many sideroudes. Local inhabitants will guide you as good as it can get here.

Route Description
You follow the Decanska bistrica only a few hundred meters from the monastery. An easy path on a ridge above the valley that is in dense forests will bring you after 3 houres to alpine grounds where many wooden houses shelter the shepherds summerpastures. When you pass the first major settlement you will see a big mountain hut (at 2000 m) above the waterfall. The condition of the hut is unclear but eventually you may take shelter with some shepherds.
From here its an 3 hour scramble on Deravica.

Route CommentDjeravica should not be taken lightly. We ascended the mountain in August 05. Despite an assurance from the mayor of Decani we found that the mountain was presently having landmines removed from its slopes by UNMIK - obviously helpful to have a mine clearance squad pointing the way. Do not go up without gaining accurate information. Good luck.

Route CommentHey, so we missed each other just by a few days, we made it on July 27! One of the villagers at Koznjar also warned us about landmines, we promised ourselves to stick to the paths, but easier said than done... thank God nothing happened to neither you nor us :)
