Steep and slow going in fresh powder. Love the views from the top of Rubicon and winter made it even more spectacular.

Short but steep trail. Very windy day with Todd.
Part of a 'Meeks Drainage Traverse'
Highland Trailhead. At first a walk in the woods, nice trail. Then patches of snow. Then continuous snow for 3/4 of the route to the top. Huffin' and a puffin', up the snow-covered ridge, happy to see the occasional faint ski tracks from earlier in the winter. Outstanding views in every direction from the top.
Great hike to get the blood pumping!
Really steep, but all on trail until final summit blocks. Went up the class 3 blocks and descended the class 2 ramp referenced by Fedak. Trip report is HERE.
Climbed this past weekend, snow started past the snotel survey site.
Found a pair of trekking poles up high - contact me with specific details if you think they might be yours.
Great view of Tahoe from the top.
Great winter hike with a swell view of Tahoe. Enjoyed the summit blocks, which had just enough snow on them to make it a little more interesting. Cold day... never got above freezing.
4x for Rubicon. Traversed to Peak 9269 and Jakes- summiting the former but got stopped out by the Jakes summit block.
Pics and commentary here.
Some of the best views of Tahoe that I've ever seen. Easier hike than expected.
Hiked this with Dan in July of 2006 and 2004.
friend and i hiked up after work. good views, dark as returning to vehicle. also in 97'...
Nice ski, open trees.
5hrs RT with MaiAnh. Snowy terrain entire way. Amazing lake views starting from the TH. Carried ax/snowshoes but didn't use them. Our attempts to avoid walking on ski tracks proved futile as a later group of snowshoers obliterated them.
Enjoyed some soggy turns on the NE aspects. 'Mashed Potatoes' would be a huge understatement!
What a great hike, tougher than expected. Better Tahoe views than Tallac. But the summit block is not class 2, very much a 3 with about a 4 foot wide knife ridge to summit with exposure to the south. Only 2 hours for the roundtrip.
There is a mostly class 2 ramp around the back of the summit to the right
Quick summer afternoon summit. Still a bit of patchy snow above 8500ft, but not enough to need crampons/axe.
Pics are here.
Climbed this on the way over to Jakes. Great views of Tahoe throughout. My dog managed to make the summit.
