cold and windy and getting dark, but nice trail...
Last of 4 peaks ascended after Monument Mtn, Pinto Mtn HPs (with Bob Burd and crew) and Malapais Hill. Beautiful December day.
Checking out J-tree with a friend.
Very windy, quick outing after the weekend's highlight... Rattlesnake Canyon the day before.
First time to Joshua Tree in over 10 years. Did this hike as one of the few hikes my Dad and I did that day.
Nice and quick day hike. The highlight was seeing the three-foot Speckled Rattler next to the trail. Great view!
Taking this short "stairmaster" hike to the top gives you an amazing 360 degree view. A must hike while visiting Joshua Tree.
Summit again with my son Ryan, his second time here. His first time was 25 years ago as a baby. Needless to say, this time he was able to do it under his own power! Accompanied by his girl friend Amanda (her first peak!) and my wife of 27 years, Ryan's mother Cinda.
I tried hiking to the summit of Mt. Ryan before my hip replacement, I reached wide area before the summit, decided I had better wait for my dh to summit if I was going to hike back to the parking lot under my own power. I was really hurting! So I was glad to have a second chance; this time (almost two years post hip replacement) the hike felt easy and was quite enjoyable!
Via the main trail in the rain. Cloud cover ruined the views from the summit. Still a fun outing.
Nice little desert walk-up. Good views of San Jacinto and the Bernardinos. Y2K was looming.
Easy walk with really nice views. Joshua Trees are neat. Pics
Camping in J-Tree with my significant other on Valentine's Day weekend was the first time I ever camped...and Ryan mountain was one of the first mountains I ever climbed.
It was a relativly easy climb, But there were bees, lots of bees at the top.
Being an inveterate peak bagger, I had to continue to the summit after climbing Walk on the Wild Side, much to the disdain of my purist companions.
Quick summit before heading out to the Grand Canyon

We did this as a night hike from the campground at Sheep's Pass. Really neat way to summit this little mountian and viewing the halo lighting of the Coachella Valley.
Jordan 6 yrs old and Ashlynn 5 yrs old both summited with daddy on a fine Sunday afternoon. Family picnic and playing on the rocks at Hidden Valley afterwards. Fun family day!
Very enjoyable hike with great views from the summit.
