Leg stretcher  Sucess!

I hiked Sacagawea on my way driving from Billings to Missoula. Needed to get out of the car and stretch my legs SP-style. I'm sure many of you can relate! Amazing views from up top and met a group of nice MCC volunteers. Cheers!

Nice Day Hike  Sucess!

Nice day hike. I've done it several times it takes me about 35minutes to get to the top in the summer and a little more than an hour in the winter. Nice peak with a great view.

Only run with Blake  Sucess!

On the way to ride the “Great One” we touched the top. Beautiful day, the middle of the Great One was not connected, but classic turns anyway. The trip was done with Mark V. and Blake, bless his family.

With students...  Sucess!

Climbed this in 1996 and again in 1997 with a group of InterVarsity students from MSU. Several of us descended the scree gully to the north of the summit. We did the trail from Fairy Lake.

From Fairy Lake  Sucess!

View somewhat obscured by smoke from nearby fires. My first summit since moving to Bozeman. The first of many.

From Fairy Lake  Sucess!

Climbed it in 2005. Although it is the highest peak in the range, there isn't much elevation gain from the trail head near Fairy Lake.

Saw a marmot on the hike up which was neat.

Route Climbed: Fairy Lake  Sucess!

I don't remember if that was the exact date, I just know it was June 2006. There was still snow in the bowl, so we got to glissade down, which proved to be fun, if a little frightening, as I picked up a LOT of speed. I can't wait to climb it again this year, as well as Hardscrabble!

Standard route  Sucess!

Started off clear. About halfway up the bowl, we noticed that we were above the clouds in the valley. Those clouds started blowing our way. We were almost to the top of the bowl, when we sat down to watch the clouds blow in to us. No thunder, so we proceeded to the summit. Visibility was 50 feet at the most. Made summit and hung around for about 30 minutes, hoping for clouds to break. No luck. Had summit to ourselves for most of the time. Clouds let up once we hit the saddle on the way down. Got to just sneak a peek at the valley below. Great day. Will do again, next time I'm out that way.

Standard Route  Sucess!

Probably the loudest thunder claps I've ever heard as I waited halfway up the bowl for a 30 minute thunderstorm to pass. It was only 9am in the morning. So much for the "alpine start".

Cobley Gulch  Sucess!

An amazing start to spring! Snowshoed all the way to the top, we were breaking trail after ski tracks turned around after just two miles. Found stable snow conditions, wished we had our skis, no evidence of traffic in quite some time. I'd take this route over fairy lake any day.

Route Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: July through Sept, 2005  Sucess!

Climbed this five times this year, with progressivly better times to the summit, best was 42min 50sec, and 21 min down. Fun peak and fits well into your schedule. What's the best time here, on the ridge run I thin they are about 32 min, anyone know?

A nice trail to the summit. A steady ascent but not too steep. Still patches of snow around this late in the season.
