Ouch!
Climbed with my Dad and Flanders. The stupid metal fenced-in rock they now have on the trail hurts my feet. It is really heinous now. Don't think I want to do this one again. They are probably doing it for erosion control but it really is ugly and hurts a pup's feet. Still, made it to the top and saw the ocean. Lots of dogs on the trail today. A weird boxer who was all hyper, a bunch of dachsunds who were ok, a cool black and white mutt like me who was cool too and a tan ridgeback who was neat. Got lots of petting too from people, especially a couple of young chicks in black leather. Weird crowd there and the trailhead smelled like Rainier Beer. Yuck.

crowded
We made the mistake of doing this one on a weekend, so it was a bit overcrowded, but that didn't detract too much from the great views.

Nice views
Great hike and warmup before WoundedKnee and I headed up Mt Hood.
Climbed this at sunset with beautiful yellows and oranges to the west and incredible blues and purples to the east with the moon rising above the first hump in the saddle.
This is a great place to go when the wildflowers peak. My favorite view on the Oregon Coast Range.

Trail Route
Made a foggy, soggy climb with my wife and 13 year old daughter. Lots of slugs! The clouds parted enough at the summit for a bit of a view. A fun, but wet day. Seafood in Seaside was the reward.

Clatsop County's Roof
I have been up the reclusive beaut several times. Great slide photography destination. Hardly anyone visits compared with nearby Ecola and Tillamook Head. The OPRD sign on HWY 26 says closed and that is for the storm damaged facilities and downed trees. In july I counted 22 wildflower species plus some cool succulent plants, but there are probably dozens more I did not see. A must-hike.

Great snowshoe trip...
I always love this climb, although this is the first time I'd done it in the winter...on snowshoes. It started out with 4" of new powder at the trailhead. The temp was 28 deg (perfect). The trail hasn’t been cleaned since before the last few storms, which have been monsters...We spent a lot of time cleaning snow loaded branches above us so as not to be buried alive. Once we got out of the forest we had a short break in the clouds exposing the sun. Felt good...although once I reached the saddle the wind howled and ice pellets blew sideways depositing into deep snowdrifts. The summit was socked in offering no views. Was back to the truck in about an hour.

Saddle Mountain
Cant remember the exact day, beautiful early Decemeber day with recent snow on the mountain.
It's a tradition for the DHS Outdoor club to summit the elusive SADDLE Mtn!!! Great Hike! did a bit of climbing on the Basalt Dike off the trail. Lose and not really great but fun!
One of my first hikes after moving to Oregon. An easy trail leads to a sweet view of the coast. Just before the summit, there is a cool ridge on the right that leads to a quiet spot with trees. A good place to get away from the crowds.
quite easy, very enjoyable for local climb. highest pt in the area, so there is much to see. have climbed this at different times of the day, and different times of the year, was great climb
This was a great hike with stunning views even with bad weather that day. Much credit is due to the crew maintaining this trail in spite of fallen trees, washouts, and heavy coastal precipitation. Worth doing again and again!

Good Sunsets
I've climbed this one a few times, and the weather can be everything from down right gorgeous to icy and windy. A fun way to climb is to go up in the early morning before it is light, and then watch everything lighten up from the top. Sunsets are also pretty impressive on a clear day, or even partly cloudy day.

Some views to the east, but no views of the Cascade volcanos on this cloudy day. Good way to stretch my legs after the transcontinental flight.

Saddle Mountain
I can't seem to get the weather to cooperate for any of my hikes this year. It was a foggy day and there was no view to be seen from the summit. The terrain above tree line is interesting, however, and at least it didn't rain.
