Samaria Mountains

The Samaria Mountains seen from the northeast during late March. The Malad River can be seen below This is a sub-range of the Bannock Range located on the Idaho-Utah border. These mountains are often referred to as the West Hills in Utah. Interstate-15 allows access to this range via dirt roads. The highest peak in the range is Wood BM in Idaho. The Samaria Mountains received their name from Mormon apostle Lorenzo Snow. He was impressed by the hospitality and kindness of the people who lived here. He said that they were “Good Samaritans” and gave the name Samaria to the nearby town and mountains
