San Bernardino, Anderson, and Shield's peaks loop via Forsee creek trail.
Tried doing the whole divide. One member of the party got ill. Fun hike up from Angelus Oaks; stopped at limber pine for the night to see quite an amazing sunset.
Went up the Forsee Creek Trail and did a big loop including 5 peaks; Anderson, S.B., S.B. East, Shields and Alto Diablo. Perfect time of year for this hike with temps. in the 50s. About 22 miles total.
Camped at Columbine under clear skies. Nobody at the summit on Saturday afternoon. Overall a great 2 days!
Lots of snow, great views. Had the peak to ourselves
A botched Nine Peak Tour. Trip Report
It was a perfect day winter day. The day before San Bernandion mountains have gain a foot of fresh powder. I strapped my skies to the backpack and started the hike via the normal route which in a winter conditions did not look that trivial due to constant route finding. I was 200 m from the peak, but it was already 5:00 pm so I decided to head back. Nice hike, very tranquil.
Big loop from Forsee Creek, one of 4 peaks on the day.
I climbed this in 2002, give or take a year.
Via Angeles Oaks or Via Momyer trace trail.
Great hike. Ascended Moymer Trail, hit all 9 peaks (excluding Mnt San Gorgonio and including Dobbs Peak) and descended bia Dobbs West Ridge. Check out my Trip Report.
Great day out with San Bern. East Peak too and car shuttle:D
Awesome weather and small patches of easily navigable snow made for a great day. Springs are drying up fast.....bring water!
The backcountry report says the trail is free of snow except for some patchy areas on the Forsee Creek Trail. Must have been a wild guess by forestry service because we spent a hell of a lot of time struggling trhough knee to hip deep snow for clos to a mile on our way up. Nevertheless, it was worthwhile.
One of four peaks that day. Met people coming up from Angelus Oaks, talked GPS with them for a couple of minutes.
Rangers closed down Vivian Creek to San Gorgonio. I must thanked them because I went on this beautiful trail instead. It was the first storm of the season, found strong winds and really cold temps (for Southern California) on the trail. The weather cleared up once I reached the peak and treated to a wonderful new blanket of snow and an awesome view.
8-10 inches of snow made this interesting.I had all the gear, everything started ok, but just didn't feel that great after 4 miles and figured it smart to not "go epic" and just enjoy a perfect day in the mountains with a good friend. Plus, this gives me another new 'revenge' mission!
Great day up the divide trail, camped at Trail Fork Springs overlooking Big Bear
A 4 day excursion.
Crisp autumn day for hike in the local "hills." Nice change of colors in the forest and beautiful sunshine accompanying us across SB Peak, SB East Peak and Anderson Peak. 11 hours round trip with plenty of rest and laughs along the way with the Love of my life.
