Only one of the three peaks hiked in one day that yielded any snow cover.
Peak 3 of 7 in the Mt Wilson area. Really nice views in all directions, but watch out for the Poodle Dog Bush. LOTS of it!!
Easy access from Eaton Saddle, great views...several other peaks right next door.
with Disappointment, Markham, Lowe.
Climbed via Eaton Saddle on the morning of April 19, 2015, before heading into the office to work on the weekend.
Did this one after Markham and Lowe...in the fog.
Nice short hikes around here, in beautiful country!
From the 2N52 trailhead to the top of Mount Disappointment, all the way over to Mount Markham, then Mount Lowe. Then back across Bear Canyon to the top of San Gabriel Peak. Four peaks, 12 miles and 3,350 feet of elevation gain.
Hiked via Eaton Saddle, up and down in about 2 hours. They were filming a "zombie" movie nearby.
Toward the top, the poodle-dog brush grew thick and encroached onto the trail in spots. Afterward, I hiked to the saddle between Markham and Lowe, but not to the tops. Warm day, with views crystal clear due to the Santa Anas blowing today.
Nice local time.
No visibility on top this time. Been here several times before. Came up with Mark J and Albert H. Had a good time.
Combined with a super hike of Disappointment, Lowe, Echo, and Inspiration Point via Lake Ave. Amazing views at the top that day, but a whole TON of honey bees buzzing around. Great view of Strawberry Peak and surrounding mountains. It's best to combine this with Mt Disappointment, as it is literally less than a half mile extra to tag both.
Really good views from the top. Second peak of the day.
Bagged along with Mount Disappointment
With Mt. Deception, Mt. Disappointment, Mt. Markham and Mt. Lowe. Cool trail to summit with nice views.
Hiked up the San Gabriel Trail to the summit. Great views and a nice bench to rest on. Continued on to Markham, Lowe, Disappointment, and Deception. Then back down paved road to car.
lowe markham and san gabriel dayhike
Second highest in the front range so no reason not to bag it on the way to Lowe and Markham.
Excellent views of surrounding peaks and basin. Cleared the trail of huge amounts of Poodle Dog Bush, peak 1 of 3 for the day.
