Sandstone Knob

Sandstone Knob

This small knob is on the highest of the Navajo Knobs. Part of my route up here took me through the brushy gully seen just left of the knob here, from which there was a short descent on loose sandstone slabs and then a somewhat exposed traverse to reach the Class 4 crack that took me to the summit area of the highest knob. Re: Cool

Thanks, Rob. I took a week off work the week of my birthday-- little present to myself-- and spent the time in some of my favorite places in Utah.

Wow, what a beautiful area

I've been to Utah, Arizona and Nevada a week ago, unfortunately I haven't seen these pics before. Anyway, I had enough to do to manage Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Upper Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Coyote Buttes (incl. The Wave) within 7 days... ;o) But definitely on my wish-list for next time! Thanks for sharing.

Kind regards,
Herbert

Re: Wow, what a beautiful area

Thanks, Herbert. It sounds as though you had plenty to do as it was recently. I hope you enjoyed your trip, especially to Death Valley. They are all amazing places, but DV is one of my favorites-- so huge, and so much to see and do there.

Re: Wow, what a beautiful area

Oh, yes indeed - we had a lot to do ;o) We drove 1.600 mls in 6 days... I enjoyed DV, although we had a very cold and rather cloudy day on the 28th of Oct. 2009. I liked trailing around Zabriskie point. We catched some magic moments during late afternoon, when the sun sent a few rays through the clouds. Unfortunately we had quite strong winds, so I've missed the dunes this time (just a reason to get back somewhen).

Re: Wow, what a beautiful area

Well, if you ever go back to DV, don't hesitate to ask for any suggestions. I've been there many times and been all over, including down the unpaved roads into some really remote areas. And I love thinking and talking about that park; it's my favorite desert park!
