Santa Elena Canyon

Santa Elena Canyon is a dramatic slot canyon where the Rio Grande River separates the U.S. and Mexico in Big Bend National Park, TX. There is a popular hiking trail into the canyon. Trips by canoe or kayak permit even greater study of the length of the canyon. Imaged in October 2014.

Excellent photo!

This is on par with some of the Lord of The Rings settings.

Thanks for the comment! But, if I'd shot the other direction you'd see it's more mountain desert once you get away from the river.

Thanks, Noondueler. It was actually tough lighting to shoot--pretty much into the sun. So patience paid off waiting for it to hide behind the canyon wall.
