Windy   Sucess!

Drove up after a long hike around the Sandstone Peak area. Windy as hell, could barely stand up at summit.

Saw an intrepid mountain biker still pedalling uphill on our return.

Camino Cielo  Sucess!

Dennis was kind enough to repeak this one so that I could tag it. Excellent views with the sun shining on the sea around the Channel Islands. A technician on site told us that a rattlesnake had been found in one of the buildings.

Via Camino Cielo Road  Sucess!

There were signs at the beginning of Refugio Rd suggesting that the road was close at some point ahead. Well it turns out that it was meant for the part of the road that descends into the valley on the east side of the ridge. Nice drive to the top with a rough section of road just before the final asphalt steep climb to the summit. I did Broadcast Peak as well since I was already in the area.

Via Tequepis Trail  Sucess!

Hiked the lovely Tequepis Trail to the range crest, then followed Camino Cielo to the summit. A long hike - about 13 miles round trip - but fun. It was warmer than I expected, and the ocean breezes apparently don't get up this high. Saw a rattlesnake crossing the road. Glad I came up this long way, I highly recommend it. Trip Report

Good Bike Ride  Sucess!

I mountain biked from the bottom of Refugio Rd in the Valley at like 700 feet. It was really long but not that steep so it wasn't too hard. Cool summit and great views of both sides. Then I biked down the single-tracks along the ridge above the road which were really meant for dirt bikes and all the way down back to refugio. Great ride. A good 3500 ft of climbing.

Nice drive, easy walk  Sucess!

My wife, her sister, and my niece from Santa Barbara joined me for this enjoyable outing. Cold, high winds, but otherwise fine.

Afternoon Drive  Sucess!

Challenging drive to the summit. The lower road is only held together by patches holding patches. The upper road is better. The unpaved .5 mile before the summit could be a problem if it was wet or you are driving a low rider.

3rd time  Sucess!

Drove to the top, this was the first time I have been up here in bad weather. Usually this peak has incredible views. Ice had formed on the towers and was falling off in large sharp pieces, scared for myself and car. Next time I'm hiking the back way up. Good luck Dad! You are always with me.
