HP #22
Headed up the deaf school road at 10:30 pm. Parked at the dirt parking lot and hiked up the rest in the complete darkness. All clouds were gone and the stars were brilliant. Found the little USGS stump, snapped a pic and headed to Clemson.

One of the least desirable state high points. No view on the top, no special marker to denote the summit, some trash on the ground and a quadrillion mosquitoes to keep me company. Some nice views on the way in though.
until my car couldn't make it any further because of the snow and ice so I hiked up the last mile or two. Kinda disappointing summit.

HP #16
I summited on what must have been the first day of hunting season. On the drive to Sassafras Mt., I must have passed hundreds of hunters lining the roads waiting for the start time.
It's in a really pretty place but... South Carolina and Mississppi are very similar and both could learn a lesson from Florida on turning nothing into something.

Better Than Woodall Mountain...
This was my first of six State Highpoints reached over Memorial Day weekend. The gate was open. This HP was better than Woodall Mountain (Mississippi HP), but not by much. State Highpoint #33 for me.

Quick!
Not as tough to find as I thought - directions provided on Summitpost were perfect! Pretty dumpy summit, however.
Approached from the north, had an awful time on the tiny winding roads and difficulties even finding the right roads. At least it's off the list!

Foggy
I hiked the Foothills Trail from the Chimneytop Gap trailhead with one of my dogs while my father drove to the top with my other dog to meet us. I could see the surrounding mountains through the leafless trees on the way up, but it was too foggy at the top to see anything. HP19
Had a little difficulty finding it, but I got it! This ended a trip that involved bagging six highpoints in one weekend!

Nice View
The place was kind of messy. The sign was destroyed. Other than that I was glad I could mark it off my list. No view from the top. It was my 2 yo. daughters first high point (she got Brasstown and Clingmans after this one).

HP #10 - short walk
I (with my wife (Tracy) and son (Alex), then almost 3 yrs old) did this as part of our second family HP trip. Not much of a view!

US 178 Rocky Bottom
I did this with my wife and son while we were on our way to Hilton Head. Very humid and really not much of a view. More interesting to see it from the road side.

Worst yet
Wow. I don't have much to say about this one. Time for some clean up.

Highpoint #17
I was short on time, so I did it the quick and boring way - walked up from the gate at the end of the road. The sun was setting, and there were a number of mosquitos trying to get a taste of me. The round trip from my hotel in Greenville took me about 2.5 hours.
Couldn't see views at all, since it was rainy and extremely foggy. Anyway, it's crossed off the list. They need a sign or something telling people it's the highest point of SC. Pretty lame. Even my Indiana highpoint has a sign!

Just another high point...Drive to lot near summit took care of the initial work... but I did hike the summit trail down a couple miles and back (good for 1100 ft elevation).
