Just finished breakfast with the wife on our last day in Leavenworth. She decided that I had earned an hour and a half of 'play time'. Took off at exactly 9am towards Sauer Mountain, not knowing what I would find. I started up Derby Canyon Road out of Peshastin. In 2.5 miles, I stayed left on FR7401 - I followed it for another 3.2 miles, where it intersected with 7401-111. Followed that spur for 1.1 miles, where it hit the ridge crest trending north from Point 3172. From here, a well-defined, one mile path (steep for the first few hundred feet) leads to Sauer Mountain. Ran as much as I could both ways to avoid getting in trouble with the wife. Pulled into the Enzian Inn parking lot at exactly 10:30. Walked into the room at 10:31 - wife was quick to inform me that I was one minute late. So close! Map has been added to photo gallery.

Or just drive to the top...like I did with fiance and dog in 2007 while visiting Leavenworth for a wedding venue. I do recall nice views toward town.
