Nice run.
Parked my car on the road and ran up to the summit. It was further than I expected and ended up with 15 miles round trip. Excellent views and only saw one car on the road.
I car camped at the trailhead for Jefferson and drove up Sawtell that next morning. Got to the top at sunrise and had some pretty awesome views looking out towards Jefferson. Quick stay on top and then drove back down a little ways to do Jefferson.

Had a big day on Jefferson and saw no reason not to drive to the top and bag Sawtell. Killer view!

Snowbound
Snowmobile summit (it was quite enjoyable, even though I usually prefer reaching a mountain apex on foot).
Winter storms left their mark on summit evergreens blasted horizontal with snow crusted from root to shoot. It was quite a sight to behold.

drive-up
With no maps or any other info on this peak, we headed off looking for a trailhead and were bummed to discover you could drive right to the top. Will probably return and attempt an ascent from a less common direction.

Did the wimp-out drive up thing. Didn't have much time for anything else. Tremendous views into MT and WY. Lots of people on this mountain.

N Ridge is wowDrove up, road quite washboardy
The guy at the USGS who approves benchmark names must not speak Tagalog
From the azimuth mark behind the station it appeared the N ridge might be higher but the USGS map disagrees. Comments from anyone who's been there?

Route Climbed: Auto route Date Climbed: Fall 2001, Aug. 2005Colder than heck up there. Went up for my Field Biology class as an outing to an alpine area. I knew all the scientific names back then.
Returned to watch the sun rise over Yellowstone, but the summit was in the clouds for most of the morning.
