Including traverse to Kaiserstein and a ride down the Breite Ries couloir
Left Katowice (Poland) at 8 pm on Friday, drove 500 km and summited 5.30 am on Saturday. Very windy but still no rain. Nice views, escpecially to Neusiedler See. Descended via Waxriegel and Baumgartner Station to Nordliche Grafensteig. Back to Losenheim at 10 am in heavy rainfall.
nice hiking along the summit massive, enjoying huts, views etc.
Fast hike in am from Lopenheim, Edelweiss hut to kaiserstein and back. Then drove to puchberg and took Schneeberg railway and hiked all over with Schneeberg, including Klosterwappen, again Kaiserstein and Hochschneeberg.
Long and well protected route, looking for the interesting rock formations and trying to avoid the characteristic pines and another non-climbing terrain. Recommended!
The weather was sunny but extremely windy. We've reached the summit via Novembergrat this time.
The weather was sunny, but the wind blew very hard.
Weather was wonderful. There was adorable cloud inversion at the height of approx. 700 m. Visibility was at about 200 km. Wonderful. We made a one day trip from Brno, Czech republic, where I live now. Anybody can make it in one day from Brno. It takes 2,5 hours to get there by car and we made the trip in a slow motion in nice 6,5 hours.
Sunny weather and inversion...
First time. Fair weather until the plateau, where strong wind welcomed us. Took a rest in the winterraum of Fischerhütte and walked out to the peak. Descending Fadensteig required much more attention and was less of a fun because of some slippery exposed parts, but people we met on the plateau reported slippery routes for the other alternatives as well, so the decision was made to descend the route we are familiar with. Afterall, the climb was a rewarding experience!
I started my trip from Hegykö (Hungary) at 4:25 a.m. I arrived to Kaiserbrunn (521 m a.s.l.) - at the foot of Schneeberg - at 5:45. Quickly I walked to Weichtal hütte, and from there I ascended to Turmstein via the Weichtal canyon. I climbed Turmstein and then I continued my way to Klosterwappen. I was up on the peak at 9:45 a.m. Then I walked over to Kaiserstein. I descended to Kaiserbrunn via Krumbachsattel and Wassersteig. A total 22 km hiking, with 1555 m net altitude gain. It was approximately 1750 m cumulative altitude gain. I was back in Hegykö (Hungary) at 2:15 p.m.
Not summit, during the TAIZE in Vienna, one day excursion from Payerbach, not have enough time to visit summit.
Rote Schütt Flanke
This is my favoutire "one day mountain" close to Hungary.
Climbed routes: Fadensteig, Weichtalklamm, Ferdinand Mayr Weg, Herminensteig, route along the railway.
Very nice view from the top.
We went up on Weichtalklamn, after the 801 route. On the Klosterwappen: bad weather 6°C, 20km/h windy and foggy. I went back from the Fischer Hütte once more, becouse started to clear up.
climbing, hiking, ski touring
=> Wurzengraben (bad weather)
Started early morning from Weichtalhütte, arrived at noon to Klostervappen (2076 m). Visited Kaiserstein (2061 m), and had a "Bratwürst" at Fischerhütte (2049 m). The weather was clear, but windy, it was a bit cold despite the hot sun. Same route for descent.
