That makes two of us (wondering about the origin of the name). One of the things I really enjoy about summitting peaks is the place names. In that regard, however, the US Southeast / Southern Appalachians absolutely take the cake!

Re: Schoolmarm Mountain!Indeed! One of the strangest names we have in Virginia is "Devils Tanyard", which is a summit in Shenandoah National Park.
