Schreiner East ridge

Schreiner East ridge

It took us 4 hours to get to the summit of Schreiner Peak from where we parked our vehicles. Now, consider that the distance was only two miles and you could wonder why it took so long. BRUSH. TONS of it to fight through and steep slopes to make your work even harder. Elevation gain is about 2800 feet and there are few places where there isn't brush. This pic shows a spot on the east ridge where there is no brush but here we had to deal with cliffy terrain with class three rock and dirt. The rock was ok but the dirt when it was over a cliff was a bit unnerving at times. It also took us 4 hours to get down. Bob is smiling because we are on the way down and most of the crappy class 3 stuff is behind us. This pic really doesn't show the drop offs on both sides of this ridge. 8-18-07

You are right.

There were some steep dropoffs on this ridge. Nice job, I'll have to try to incorporate your descriptions into the route page. Thanks!
