Scodie Mountain from the north

Scodie Mountain from the parking area off Hwy 178 just north of the peak. The actual summit is a couple hundred yards behind the apparent high point. A decommissioned dirt road, which can be found a couple hundred yards east of the parking area, runs most of the way up the canyon. The brush and Pinons can get thick, so staying away from them is a good idea when approaching from this side. I found that staying on the south side of the northeast ridge (descending left from high point in the photo) made for easier progress. Descent from the saddle just left of the high point makes for a quick return trip--scree all the way to the dirt road. February 12, 2006.
