Turns out you can hop across the land spits between lake 11818, which was great to find out. All in all, a beautiful peak in a remote part of the Sierra.

Second attempt in two days, having been shut down by weather the day before. Part of a 3 day stay in the Ionian Basin. Convoluted but interesting approach from Lake 11,828, very dramatic and unusual landscape. Trip report.

She kept calling
Plan was just to dance our way through the basin from Chasm Lake to wherever. Then I saw her rising above her lake from the saddle just to the north. I fought for awhile, but eventually she won out (or was it the Sirens calling me to her?). I ate a quick lunch and enjoyed the scramble up the northwest shoulder. Nice view out over the entire basin.
Was thrilled to finally get a weekend in Ionian Basin after thinking about it for a couple years. On the second night I camped at Lake 11592, then up the north slope of Scylla as a warmup for Goddard that afternoon (was able to walk from Lake 11828 to 11592 while only dropping to 11400 feet). Scylla is a great peak, pretty solid footing if you keep to the far east side of the north slope.

Easy climb from the beautiful Ionian Basin and the views fantastic. The Three Sirens were cool too (but no time to climb this trip). Peak #8 on JMT adventure.

Scylla and Reinstein
Happy Birthday, Mom! Started from Lake Martha, came back via Reinstein Pass and Mount Reinstein itself. The Ionian Basin is an outstanding area in the Sierra.
