Solo in October for a novice?

Just wondering whether the Normal Ridge is generally safe for soloing for a novice in October? I have some Alpine and High Andes experience (up to PD+) with a partner but basically no solo experience... I know this is a generic question, but any insight would be highly valued.

Re: Solo in October for a novice?

As noted on the route page, conditions vary considerably from year to year and throughout the year. You will have to check locally for current information and determine if the conditions meet your requirements for a safe climb. My assessment is that this is not a safe route for a novice to solo except perhaps in the most ideal of conditions -which are unlikely to occur in October at that elevation.
