That's a nicepan shot of Sedona! How often do you come to
Arizona? (I guess I should be talking - I
haven't been to Texas within the last 51 years!)

Re: That's a niceI don't make it to Arizona very often. Was there in PHX last year for work. Would love to hike the state high point someday though.

Re: That's a niceTJ - is it just me, or do this year's
weather patterns seem to be a bit abnormal?
The last time my wife & I visited the 'Roof of Arizona,' a strong micro-burst of winds came up, immediately followed by a violent
thunderstorm complete with lightning.
In order to keep from being blown into the
next county, my wife & I hid under a tree.
Can only imagine what it was like on the
summit of Humphreys Peak. (No trees!)

Re: That's a niceI think you're right. It seems like our "extreme" weather is becoming more extreme and more frequent. I've been fortunate that I have not been caught on a mountain top in stormy weather. I've read many a trip report about those who have and it sounds terrifying. How long did you and your wife have to wait it out?

Re: That's a niceAbout 15 minutes - we munched on a ham
sandwich and some cherry tarts. Took at least
12 out of the 15 minutes to calm down my wife.
Then, we met a lone hiker from France. (Long
story!) lol..
