Sego Lily flower and buds

Sego Lily (Calochortus nuttallii, "Nuttall's beautiful grass") was once, according to the legend, so common in the Wasatch Foothills that the Mormon Pioneers subsisted on its bulbs, earning this delicate plant the title of Utah State Flower.
