Perfect YNP dome intro hike
First trip was my first go at snow camping, and backpacking in the winter, and first time cross country skiing! Spent two nights camped halfway to Glacier Point, and went to the dome and the point on day two (January 25, 2003). Great weather but we had way too much crap with us, and the nights were so long. But definitely a great way to spend a Super Bowl weekend. Splendid time to go!
Second trip was a quick hike after Illilouette Ridge and Ostrander Rocks in June 2012 straight up the southeast side.
Hiked here in conjunction with Taft Point. Great views of the valley.
A mile each way to one of the best viewpoints in the park.
With Debbie and Emilee, nice day
Great views of Yosemite Valley!
Took the long way up. Love the valley.....
1.9 miles round trip, summit is at 8143 feet by Garmin GPS. Fantastic views of the Yosmeite Valley for a trivial investment in sweat!
Beautiful views the whole way up.
Nice panoramic view though the haze cut down on that substantially getting late into the day. There were plenty of people along to share the very large summit.
Maybe the best views in Yosemite. An easy 2 mile jaunt from Glacier Point road.
Party included Zarathustraswife Lynda, daughter Alexa (18) and step-daughters Haley (8) and Heather (6). This was the first summit for Haley and Heather - who generally have to be bribed or dragged to walk a mile in the neighborhood. They were really good sports on this hike though!
My husband and I hiked this with our girls, 6, 8 and 18. The views were amazing for such a short easy hike.
Cross country skiing to Glacier Point when we decided to take this detour. Easy boot kick up the snow slope for grand views.
I'm a little embarrassed to say I'd never realized this dome was here, out of sight from the Valley. Walked to the top while in transit along the spectacular south-rim hike from Wawona Tunnel to Glacier Point and back down 4-mile trail. Big storm day, horizontal snow on the summit. Curious what routes have been put up on the attractive north face of the dome.
Great short hike with many rewards :)
Wow.. There actually is a log for Sentinel Dome. :P
Unbeatable view from the top - it completes the scene from Glacier Pt but minus the crowds.
A fun and informative hike with an interpretive ranger. Bagged Ostrander Rocks afterward.
I have sat on top several times, but this day was special. I was alone for about an hour, the unspoiled views all to myself.
Still hurting from a car accident, I had a nice stroll over to Sentinel Dome from the parking lot on the easy to follow trail. The views were great. The traffic on Glacier Point Road to get there...not so great.
I went from the Taft Point Fissures to Sentinel Dome which is 2.3 miles. The trail is very beautiful, and it runs along the edge of Yosemite Valley. The trail ends at the scenic Sentinel Dome which features 360 degree views of Yosemite valley.
