Sesvenna Group & 14th Century Church

A 14th Century Church stands in the Rechensee-lake with the Sesvenna Mountains in the background. This man-made reservoir was filled in 1950 after the completion of the dam. The only thing remaining of what once was a whole village is this church tower. Rechensee lake, Sud-Tirol, Italy, Aug. 2010

It's amazing...

that the church tower has not collapsed! I can see the high water mark too. This is what I call great construction.

Hi Marc yes it really is amazing. The sight of a church tower in the middle of a lake is a weird but fantastic thing to see. They built strong churches back in the 14th century :-)
