Shoal Peak

Seen from the summit of Corner Peak. As a friend and I hiked to Deer Ridge the previous day, I speculated that it might be a great outing to climb Shoal from the south and then traverse to Corner Peak and from there down to Swift Creek and back to the trailhead, making an outstanding mountaineering loop. Although the north face of Shoal Peak is not fully visible from here, enough is to show you why my idea might not be such a great one without carrying rope and other climbing gear. The easiest way to climb Shoal Peak seems to be from the west, as shown in this view. Gros Ventre Range, WY-- July 2009
