This was my second time to hike to Shortoff. Both times were from the Table Rock lot. I should have checked here first I guess, for I, too, would like to find this pond!

I missed out on the pond
I hiked this mountain from the Wolf Pit Road trailhead to the highpoint and back this past Friday. But I had no idea it had a pond, I definately would have looked for that. This was an enjoyable hike, and very scenic. There are many overlooks of the linville gorge. It is 408 meters of total elevation from the trailhead to the highpoint, over a 5.5 km trail. It took me 4 hours out-and-back, with many stops for pictures and a long break near the highpoint.
