Shot of the "big wall" on Hallett Peak's North Face as seen from the slopes of Flattop Mountain. After two unsuccessful attempts, Ray Northcut and Harvey Carter climbed the 3rd (westernmost buttress) July 28, 1956. After this ascent the route quickly became recognized as one of the most audacious climbs in Colorado (Bueler, 2000). Photo taken January 19, 2004. |
