Shrublands in Shadows

Shrublands in Shadows

The semi-desert shrublands of Sedona manage to soak up enough moisture to support a variety of adaptations. Here, the western escarpment of Lee Mountain serves as a sandstone barrier between the Ponderosa pine zone of the (wetter) Mogollon Plateau, and the "sun-loving" plants (shown here) more tolerant of drier climates at lower elevations. In other words, some like it hot, and others have no choice not to. That would be me. September 15, 2010

Re: Worthy of SP

Hey, my friend..

You have expressed a valid and heart-felt opinion. Thanks..

When I contemplate the phrase, "risen from the ashes," I think of TWO things.

One of them is this:

"Starbird, let your cry lead us all through the night..
Rising from the ashes, your light will show us the way..
Starbird, you can fly me, take me everywhere you go.
Raring with the windsong, burning in your fiery glow..

Screaming through the darkness..."
