Re: individual signs...Some of the most famous routes have a single sign pointing you in the right direction. Then, there are more signs keeping you on the already worn out foot paths. This way people don't make a hundred different foot-paths to the base of the routes.

Re: individual signs...Good system. I guess here it's more a cairn here, a cairn there. The "hundred different footpaths" issue is a problem in many places all over.
