NW peakbaggers Greg Slayden, Martin Shetter, and Edward Earl attempted the the northwest route and expected favorable conditions. The lower gullies were thawed-out and spitting out boulder-sized scree. The upper sections of the mountain, such as seen here, were full of fresh avalanches and steep ice... forcing their party to end their attempt.
