Steep Slab  Sucess!

Fun Hike and exciting climb! Wandered about the hillside a bit before finding the lake, but we finally found it. Didn’t catch many fish but we had a nice swim before navigating our way to the summit. We took a straight up approach and quickly discovered why the name “Slab” is so accurate. The small peak is basically just an off kilter stab of decomposing granite! The ascent was sketchy but the view afforded from the top was worth it! On our decent we picked our way down the ridge towards the saddle before sliding down the slab on our shoes and scrambling our way back to the lake. Great place! The only thing I was sad about, was that we didn’t see any sheep. There were tons of sheep sign and even a few carcasses but no living sheep were seen.

Route Climbed: South Ridge Date Climbed: October 27, 2005  Sucess!

Hiked from the east to the small lake on the east foot of the summit block. Then climbed the saddle west of the lake before turning north up the south ridge. Descended down a couloir on the east face. Beautiful day on a neat mountain.
