Good page, and an interesting-looking mountain!

Moni's right, though, in what she says about more info. Most people pass by this mountain and scarcely notice it while on their way to other destinations such as larger mountains, the extensive back country trial system, Hazzard Lakes and more to the north. --Maybe you could elaborate a bit on that sentence, as it implys that there is quite a bit more of interest in the relatively immediate area.

Actually what you see is an expansion of when I originally said there was much up the road. People really go by this mountain because the trees and steep terrain right against the road hide it from most views along the western travel routes. I'll try to include some links soon (see reply to Moni), but I don't want to elaborate too much on other stuff because this is a page about Slab Butte afterall. Mentioning and providing a link should get interested people onto other stuff in the area. Generally most mountains submitted to SP could list a whole lot of adjacent stuff, but it isn't generally done.

Thanks for the good comments and vote.

Very nicely done-great area seldom visited. Why do these other members always ask for more info? Forest Service Links? C'mon people... The photos and route descriptions are what this is all about, not cut and paste Forest Service policies. Great job

I agree with you, but will try to add some more info because no one is really asking a great thing here. The error is probably mine because my words give the impression that there is something special up the road. Actually its a neat area, but whats up the road is mountain lakes, trails, wolves and other mountains. Sort of like most of Idaho and most other mountainous areas of the world. The mountain is missed largely because of terrain rather than remoteness. I'll leave it for a couple days and see if I can write it clearer. It does no good to proofread and edit when ideas are fresh in my mind, because it continues to mean the same thing to me when others may be reading something else.
