Good and informative page, David. I'm not so sure about the choice of you pictures though. But supposedly there will be others over time. Having had that stormy feeling myself a couple of weeks back on La Palma I can fairly understand the dangers. And the volcano I'm talking about was only 1400ft high!
I have renewed interest in getting to Java and Slamet seemed like one of the more distinctive volcanoes... name and all! From your description, it looks like that's certainly the case.

More comingWe have climbed Slamet several more times from Guci and a couple of traverses with a night spent on the summit. Not to be repeated!
